Whether you are looking for a quiet walking trail, an endurance hike, or forest biking trails, Putnam County has something for everyone, at any pace. Each corner of the county features maintained trials, convenient for any skill level.

Butterflies and Bloom Trails

Located just outside of historic downtown Eatonton, Butterflies and Blooms in the Briarpatch features five acres of green space for a variety of flowers (both perennials and annuals), plants, and various unique insects who call the park home. There is a quarter-mile soft walking track around the gardens that provides visitors of all ages the opportunity to take a peaceful walk around multiple water features and natural boggy areas. Community volunteers maintain the park and the programs that periodically occur on the grounds.

Putnam County Recreation

Putnam County Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities servicing Eatonton and Putnam County residents. In addition to fields, courts, and more, the department organizes and hosts a variety of youth sports leagues including baseball, basketball, cheer, flag football, football, karate, pickleball, soccer, and softball. The recreation department also manages and operates the Putnam County Swimming Pool in downtown Eatonton.

Rock Eagle Effigy

Rock Eagle 4-H Center, a property operated by the University of Georgia, offers extensive outdoor education programs that provide team building and learning opportunities to thousands of regional campers each year. The services at the expansive Rock Eagle 4-H Center complex range from interactive historic exhibitions to a high ropes course on the property. Rock Hawk Effigy and Trails

In addition to the Rock Hawk Effigy itself, there are over 30 miles of maintained trails with a variety of educational plaques and signs throughout. The trails are great for hiking and biking at any skill level and provide a unique opportunity to experience the history interactively.

Uncle Remus Golf Course

Located in downtown Eatonton, the Uncle Remus Golf Course features a 9-hole course with a variety of layouts perfect for any skill level. The course is open every day except Tuesday.
