Built in 1916, this old building was a busy high school until 2001. Now it is a bustling center of history and culture. The museum privides a detailed history of commerce and social activity. Home of the Plaza Arts Center, this venue provides many arts and cultural activities for the community.
Nov 29, 2025 · Google ReviewWe had the absolute pleasure of being shown around by Tom Rosseter, who is the gentleman who came up with the idea of turning the abandoned school into a community hub with a museum, auditorium, meeting rooms etc. The museum is just what you want in a local museum with a selection of old shops and a drugstore, and displays on the history of the town going back 17,000 years. The old shops have the window displays changed on a regular basis so you will see different displays if you revisit. Tom took us into the auditorium where we saw a group rehearsing.
Apr 13, 2025 · Google ReviewThis was a wonderful little museum, you can really tell how much care and passion for local history went into the curation of it. The life-sized recreation of the 1940’s storefronts were so fun. Maude gave us a great little impromptu tour which really added to the experience. Both doors to the side of large central entrance were open and it all connects so you can get where you’re going from either side.

Oct 27, 2025 · Google ReviewThe entrance to this lovely quaint museum is actually the small door to the left of the main entrance. The main entrance may be locked but the museum is open. We were greeted by the museum’s curators Jean and Denise who gave us a very warm welcome and tour that brought the history of Eatonton to life. Their in-depth knowledge, dedication and commitment to the Museum and their hometown is phenomenal. On top of that, the admission is free. This converted elementary school turned out to be an unexpected gem on our visit to Eatonton.
